When the word education is in discourse; one thing that would come to the mind of an average man is that when he passes through school genuinely and allow school to pass through him, he may be bold to say he's got all it takes to be successful. Unfortunately if we are to take into cognizance what is happening in Nigeria, one need not be told that the standard of Education has been compromised and its dignity has been dethroned.

Merriem Webster dictionary describes education as the knowledge, skill and understanding that you get from attending a school, college or university. Looking at that context; it's quite pathetic and sardonic today that Nigeria is in the state of comatose whereby most of the institutions lack the necessary infrastructures, wherewithal to equip the students and that is more of the reasons the government don't believe in her products.

The canker-worm called corruption has eaten deep into the fabric of our educational system that one can get a good result without even going to school. I was lachrymose when I read only 7% of 2018 budget was allocated to Education and in this same country 1 BILLION USD is withdrawn from excess crude account to tackle insurgency which was earlier claimed to have been technically defeated; the government have forgotten that when a man is deprived of right to Education and its benefits; it's another avenue to producing terrorists. I now remember the words of Nelson Mandela that if you want to destroy a nation just ravage the educational system(Paraphrasing).

I once read that only #8MILLION was approved for NUC to make research and whooping millions for the purchase of SUVs by the National Assembly members which shows our level of retrogression in this country. We are in a country where millions are been wasted on irrelevant things at the expense of giving qualitative education to her citizens; a country with clueless leaders who have no blueprints of a better country but rather after their self aggrandizements.

One thing I solely believe is that longevity is not legality; in other words, because something has been happening from time immemorial does not make it a law. Our leaders have established the fact that no one can do it better. An aphorism says "In the city of the blind; one eyed man is the king" but a popular musician once said in a situation where everyone in a city is blind; how do they recognize a one eyed man to make him king? Then it means the blind is leading the blind.

Education in Nigeria has been compromised to an extent that a man cannot solely rely on it as a yardstick to be successful except such a man has a handiwork or whatever you call it. A land flowing with milk and honey has turned to that flowing with acrimony and ill feeling where innocent people are been murdered gruesomely and left in the pool of their own blood and the perpetrators of this evil acts are been celebrated.

Youths are no longer consumed with the passion to be educated as many have considered the sector destroyed. Many of them are working it out thereby causing evil perpetration to be at its increase on daily basis.

The government has so much inflicted suffering on the masses and hardship has become the order of the day for the common man. Little wonder the 39 year old France president said Nigeria is no longer part of the world.
